Ok, as i said in the introduction i was going to start a Harakoni Warhawks army which is based more on their fluff as described in the 4th ed codex.
But before i can start i have to know what weapon types i would need for the troopers to make them effective against more than one army, while still making it Fluffy. And as is tradition, i seem to find, it is customary to write a List.
And here is mine:
Army Total - 1995pts
HQ- 430pts
Command Squad - 330pts
Colonel Straken - 95pts
Colour Sgt Kell - 85pts

Vendetta Gunship 2 - 130pts
Squadran 2: 260pts
Vendetta Gunship 3 - 130pts
Vendetta Gunship 4 - 130pts
Now in my mind, thats a decent list with a good mix of weapons and abilities.
But as i well know, what seems on paper to be good, doesnt work in practice....all the time so im getting a second opinion before i start.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Awesome list, bro. But you could cut back on the powerswords on your veterans. Any enemy you'll face will close-combat-cut your units into pieces in no time, with the possible exception of Tau and other Guardsmen. You could however give your Veteran Sergeants plasmapistols. Boost their anti-tank capabilities. The powerfist on your Commissar is also a waste of points. Alright, you've now got a dude with strength 6 attacks, but he's sluggish as hell and will inevitably be shredded in the first round of any combat (especially with challenges). That +5 inv. save won't save his sorry ass. Fluffwise, it's also bogus. Have you've ever walked down the stairs with a crate of oranges or something similar? Now imagine a guy jumping out of an airplane with a huge chunk of metal attached to his arm. Not really practical, don't you think? If you want to give the blackcoat anything, give him a plasma. But really only use the man to give orders to your vets.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, you should lose the stormtroopers. They're just overpriced and only usefull against themselfs. They wound Marines on +5. The only other thing I can imagine they can go usefully shooty shooty at is Dark Eldar Incubi, with their +3 powerarmor and their lack of guns.
What you should take is a Master of Ordnance. If you can, take two. They're awesome and they give you a strength 9, ap 2 unlimited range large blast. Just make sure you stick 'em in the back. Or in a building. Or in a spare chimera to increase their survivability. Fluffwise the chimera wouldn't do so great, but hey! at least it stops the bullets for a while. Plus, a slow vehicle filled with important people makes a great distraction for your opponent. Especially if you start bragging about the Master of Ordnance and his artillery bombardment.
And perhaps you should consider taking a couple of heavy weapon teams (Heavy bolters, perhaps? Or moar plazma. Moar!). It's not like your assaults are going to be super succesful. Or maybe even a tank or so. You know what they say: you can never have enough tanks.
So, in short:
Powerswords, powerfist, stormtroopers: Njet.
Plasmapistols, MoO (and other regimental advisors), Heavy Weapon Teams: Da!
Tanks: Either "Hell yeah" or "Maaaaaybe".
For the Emperor, brother.
